DAVID MOEYKENS TENNIS TOURNAMENT
What is it?
It’s a one-day tennis tournament.
Why are we holding it?
We are hosting the tennis tournament for three reasons: We hope to bring the community together to honor and remember David Moeykens; to raise money for the David Moeykens Scholarship that will help a Marshfield High School senior pay for college tuition; and to raise awareness for glioblastoma.
When is it?
Sunday, October 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where is it?
Marshfield High School Tennis Courts
What is the entrance fee?
$30 for a single player (we will pair you with a doubles partner)
$60 for a doubles team (you and your parter can sign up together as a team)
How do I sign up?
Sign up using this online form. You can pay for your entrance fee via Venmo or pay cash at the day of the event.
What do the matches look like?
Matches will be best-out-of-three games with no advantages (so each match should last less than 20 minutes). If you are new to tennis, we’ll explain what this means. The first round will begin at 10 a.m. Players should bring their own tennis racquets. We will supply the tennis balls. It’s a single-elimination tournament…so if you lose, you get to enjoy the rest of the day watching your friends play.
What if I have nothing to wear?
No worries. We’re making great t-shirts that you can purchase for $20 each. Order your t-shirts here.
What if I get hungry or thirsty during the day?
Don’t fret. We will be selling pizza, water, and Gatorade during the event.
What does the winning team win if they are triumphant in the final round?
The winning doubles team will get the first annual tournament trophy, (maybe) a gift certificate, and (definitely) bragging rights as the greatest tennis players east of Pembroke.
