Mission Statement:
Losing a child is unbearable. We are funding research and providing support for those with childhood cancer with a special emphasis on brain tumors.
Vision Statement:
Compassionate and effective treatments for childhood cancer
David was a kid who worked hard at school, on the field and in the pool. He loved Marshfield, his teachers, his friends and his family fiercely. During his cancer treatment, David valued the kindness and comfort for all those around him, from the people who dropped off meals, to the nurses who provided his care with compassion. He left a lasting impression on all who met him. David’s family has set up the “David Moeykens Memorial Fund” and the “David Moeykens Memorial Scholarship” to honor his bravery and never ending love of life. All money raised will be used for those organizations involved in the discovery and treatment of Childhood Pediatric Cancers and that of Glioblastoma, the specific cancer that he suffered from. Glioblastoma treatments have not changed in over 30 years and it is a literal death sentence for most who are diagnosed with it.
David Moeykens Memorial Fund
David recognized the kindness of those surrounding him and the suffering of the other patients around him. The ultimate goal is to find a way so that no other kid suffers a similar fate and all money will be used for that purpose. Through the many donations from friends and family we have raised $72,000 that we can distribute to those nonprofits that fulfill these needs.
To date this fund has contributed to the Jimmy Fund https://www.jimmyfund.org, the Dragonmaster Foundation https://dragonmaster.org, Alice’s House https://aliceshouse.org and the Pan Mass Challenge.
David Moeykens Memorial Scholarship
We have raised over $20,000—I want to thank you all for this. In June of 2021 we gave out three scholarships. The recipients were: Sara Wiejkus, Michael Leone, and Kaliegh Dominguez
I just want to thank everyone for their continuous support. The loss of David seems to get more difficult as time goes on but knowing that he made an impact on those who knew him brings great comfort.
A lot of events were held in David’s honor this year and we were able to raise money for both his scholarship and his charitable giving account. Learn more about these events .
